Wed, Oct 19, 2011 20:37:48 socketware.com, big data and machine learning
Mon, Apr 11, 2011 15:43:14 just moved dns for about 30 domains to our registrar... shutting down our own dns servers as part of the move to ec2. expecting some errors in translation over the next couple days, but no issues for clients as they're all on other dns servers already anyway.
Sat, Mar 26, 2011 23:41:47 just ran my first hadoop mapreduce job on a multi-machine cluster running inside of amazon ec2... fantastic!
Fri, Mar 25, 2011 23:48:32 meeting at the landmark diner this morning
Wed, Mar 23, 2011 20:07:49 In NYC for big data conference.
Wed, Mar 16, 2011 04:22:07 lunch meeting at blue ridge grill. email time suck.
Mon, Mar 14, 2011 19:43:51 ec2 project launched last week.
Wed, Dec 29, 2010 14:58:30 lots of client stuff. one big "me" project lately is moving everything the the cloud. amazon ec2. this'll be a many-month process but i've already gotten one thing moved there.
Sat, Oct 16, 2010 17:06:20 busy
Sun, Jul 4, 2010 09:22:44 big delivery weeks coming up for me. need to go geek mode and limit executive mode.
Fri, Jul 2, 2010 07:48:48 still busy... need to do a full summary of it all via blog
Sat, May 29, 2010 16:28:47 busy
Wed, Feb 24, 2010 21:01:44 decent little mix of client work and speculative bizdev. actually, really exciting projects in the pipeline... i just hope some of the biggies land.
Sun, Jan 31, 2010 12:13:02 meetings, meetings, meetings.
Sun, Jan 24, 2010 20:32:52 the office works and we've got a few projects kicking off. things are getting busy. which is good, of course.
Wed, Jan 6, 2010 04:29:12 long but productive day. two meetings, one morning and one night. i.d. office setup and chair selection.
Mon, Jan 4, 2010 11:15:00 did the annual corporate filings for pingFit and dNeero
Sat, Jan 2, 2010 15:59:07 facebook and reddit ad campaigns... checking results/cpms/etc
Sun, Dec 27, 2009 01:42:27 clearly failing at my daily updates via mythredz. some change in direction lately. and some not change. needs a full blog post.
Wed, Nov 18, 2009 07:57:53 updated http://jungledisk.com backup to v3.0 on nine servers, configured new backup vaults. also migrated a 1.2gb dneero database to one of the linux servers.
Tue, Nov 17, 2009 17:22:15 meeting this afternoon with government agencies that concern themselves with water conservation. was interesting.
Mon, Nov 9, 2009 18:07:56 getting caught up
Mon, Oct 26, 2009 18:11:53 pingFit between meetings/calls for the last 9 days. facebook connect action. pretty darn cool, can't wait to launch it but lots of details to wrap up.
Sat, Oct 17, 2009 07:10:37 new http://traaak.com launched this week, forgot to mention it amidst everything else that happened. includes facebook connect login to a web version so now your in-facebook stuff and out-of-facebook stuff is the same. about 3,000 users but not a ton of activity... need to stir things back up.
Sun, Oct 11, 2009 07:40:26 spent most of yesterday working on traaak.com. would like to just get that one launched. i've got about three weeks of work that's been sitting around for seven or eight months.
Fri, Oct 9, 2009 09:50:44 fixed a mythredz bug. emails for the consulting gig. reviewed two docs that elswick sent re: pingFit. and it's still pre-10am. rocking so far today.
Thu, Oct 8, 2009 10:19:02 well, today's heatin' up... pitch polishin' so far this am. two conf calls, a pitch and a dinner on the agenda this afternoon/evening. zoiks.
Wed, Oct 7, 2009 20:15:46 bsuy day. see, can't even spell busy it was so busy. working on consulting proposals. pingFit conference call this evening with elswick and sr. a bunch of misc emails and calls. 4am to 8pm went by too quickly.
Tue, Oct 6, 2009 13:36:37 productive morning inching towards the pingfit milestone. heading to a dneero meeting and then a pingfit meeting.
Mon, Oct 5, 2009 19:12:39 electronic confirmation of filing came in from the secretary of state today. at paul's insistence i got the annual fee paid for each immediately. downloaded the certificates of formation. badda bing.
Mon, Oct 5, 2009 18:47:37 meeting downtown at michael gibson studio. couple calls and then a mythredz.com production support issue came in. lots of email. didn't get much built today but was busy all day.
Sun, Oct 4, 2009 20:11:11 worked more on pingFit today. trying to take every non-meeting minute i can to get to the milestone. as usual, it's a bit further out than i expect it to be... and selling forces are making me adjust course a bit. but i'm getting there. private label capability is ripening up. and then i'll get the exerciser scoring/ranking/reporting/profile stuff going. then, 100 percent bizdev.
Fri, Oct 2, 2009 14:57:04 launched the pingFit private labeling thingy. i can't claim to be over that hurdle... still a lot of features to add... but the lion's share, the technical challenges are done... now it's utility coding. thanks to kindzia i got two LLCs filed with the state. and EIN's up and running. worked through a personal banking error by wachovia. had a couple conference calls. and spoke to alex for a bit. not a bad morning and now i'm amazed it's 3p! where does the time go?
Thu, Oct 1, 2009 19:02:26 worked on pingFit today. and some consulting stuff. had a pretty bad headache all day so it wasn't the most productive.
Wed, Sep 30, 2009 20:06:29 some good pingFit opportunities presented themselves today. mad rush to get a relationship formalized in writing before we can take advantage of them. lots of legwork required but sounds fruitful. the flu time without meetings has allowed me to whittle down my todo list a bit. i got more done on the pingFit milestone today.
Tue, Sep 29, 2009 20:43:04 remember that whole maker's time vs. manager's time? consulting took me all manager's time. but i have fought back and done some maker's time. hoping to get to the outstanding pingFit milestone soon so that i can go 100% bizdev. other than that... lots hectic.
Sat, Sep 19, 2009 07:16:19 lots of consulting project work.
Fri, Aug 21, 2009 08:58:14 proposal pricing planning stuff today.
Sun, Aug 16, 2009 08:06:40 what's this? progress? couldn't be.
Thu, Aug 13, 2009 13:56:20 actually getting close to launching the new dNeero embed widget... can't wait to get that one off of the todo list
Mon, Aug 10, 2009 08:35:53 still busy.
Fri, Jul 31, 2009 13:05:18 busy.
Tue, Jul 21, 2009 20:39:54 fail: always. win: never.
Tue, Jul 7, 2009 16:28:10 got video and audio clips working inside of the dNeero embed widget... I think this'll open a bunch of avenues.
Fri, Jul 3, 2009 09:45:27 busy day of meetings yesterday. followups today.
Wed, Jul 1, 2009 19:49:12 early morning progress on the dNeero embed widget. took a lot of bouncing back and forth between server development and flash widget development. later in the morning i beat down the inbox and prepped for some meetings tomorrow.
Tue, Jun 30, 2009 20:28:13 made some good progress on the dNeero embed widget... finally. got the server side stuff working with the client side stuff. and the borders are finally lining up and looking smooth. probably another week of work and then i'll finally be able to launch it. that'll be a big relief and will hopefully help me get into sales mode.
Sun, Jun 28, 2009 18:13:52 feeling like i have way too many incomplete threads right now
Wed, Jun 24, 2009 08:16:10 doing more consulting these days... enjoying it but it makes my life more hectic... combined with the numerous things that i kinda feel responsible to do it makes for many little check boxes
Sat, May 30, 2009 12:12:28 my http://traaak.com updates are going a lot slower than expected. i'm rather tired and beat up from a work psychology perspective right now. struggling for motivation.
Tue, May 19, 2009 12:32:24 trying to get http://traaak.com relaunched as a web app... currently it's a set of 40+ facebook apps. i think webifying it with embeds is a great idea... just more tedious than i had thought.
Sat, May 9, 2009 09:33:58 launched http://www.buzzTrendz.com to track recent trends. took about ten hours to develop... interested in seeing how it grows over time.
Tue, Apr 28, 2009 15:45:25 also spent a bunch of time working for a client on some flash stuff... woOT! got a deliverable out the door.
Tue, Apr 28, 2009 15:44:58 busy morning... sr regged another nine domains for the whoCelebsTweet.com universe... the server is slowly pulling in celeb tweets. I added some error/dupe checking... what used to take 2hrs to populate has now been running 14 hrs and is only 1/2 way there... but the data is more trustworthy.
Mon, Apr 27, 2009 23:02:22 launched six new sites today: whoAthletesTweet.com, whoCyclistsTweet.com, whoTriathletesTweet.com, whoCEOsTweet.com, whoTechPunditsTweet.com... all are loading data from Twitter API right now. Also launching another one tomorrow... cold/flu permitting.
Thu, Apr 23, 2009 18:25:07 got in touch with somebody in nyc i was waiting on... that's good news for tomorrow. launched a new site (announcing soon) today... weekend project. still trying to get the svn server issues hammered out. and my windows home server is complaining about something.
Wed, Apr 22, 2009 18:07:51 hectic. too many todos.
Mon, Apr 20, 2009 23:28:16 coming off the pingFit + Adobe Air addiction of six weeks... flowing into some misc stuff
Mon, Apr 20, 2009 23:00:00 Moved some stuff to the BAL01 server... let's see if this
works.
Sat, Apr 11, 2009 13:23:30 consumed but getting close to a launch
Thu, Apr 2, 2009 15:08:16 still consumed with a concept.
Sun, Mar 29, 2009 09:00:08 sr and elswick over to the house for a work session today
Tue, Mar 10, 2009 23:00:28 working on the pingfit desktop app with adobe air/flash... loving
it... can't wait to use it!
Thu, Mar 5, 2009 15:47:46 ugh, home hardware issues taking over my life... hating it but can't have data issues
Sun, Mar 1, 2009 12:30:49 new dNeero Twitter Questions feature launched not long ago
Fri, Feb 6, 2009 12:14:09 call with a potential new dNeero client referred by an existing one... that's good stuff
Fri, Feb 6, 2009 10:40:20 Fixed a few MyThredz.com bugs for users this morning.
Sat, Jan 24, 2009 23:00:04 I spent the first few hours of the day working some issues out of
last night's dNeero deployment. This evening Elswick came over and we
worked on PingFit for about four hours.
Fri, Jan 23, 2009 23:19:27 launched a ton of new dNeero features today. superpanels. social influence rating's new algorithm. in fact, it's calculating the new ranking for all users now. it's been running for about seven hours now and probably has a few more before its first pass is done. lots of calculations.
Thu, Jan 22, 2009 23:00:26 Rebuilt the dNeero Social Influence Rating algorithm from the
ground up. Now incorporates all the human review that we're doing. All the
flagging and warning stuff. And a bunch of new data points to really figure
out which bloggers are influential. Very fun coding because it's taking a
subjective human concept and computerizing it.
Sat, Jan 10, 2009 20:18:31 Worked on an infographic for a presentation today. Cleaned up a few outstanding coding issues. Pruned a list of leads.
Wed, Dec 31, 2008 23:00:23 Have been getting a ton of odds and ends done in the last week.
Deployment infrastructure changes, etc. Things I never seem to have time
for.
Fri, Dec 26, 2008 11:39:37 last couple days have been spent on non-dNeero stuff, although i've certainly handled email/phone for dNeero. starting to turn back to the big d today.
Tue, Dec 23, 2008 22:31:51 launched a new client convo for dNeero
Mon, Dec 22, 2008 16:20:23 working on Ping.fm support for MyThredz... little lunch project action... at 4pm... which makes perfect sense... go with it.
Thu, Dec 18, 2008 21:55:29 servers killing me right now
Thu, Dec 18, 2008 15:31:44 new firewall installed. some little issues but overall nice to have it running.
Thu, Dec 18, 2008 13:41:33 new firewall being installed now. i expect all hell to break loose in mere moments.
Thu, Dec 18, 2008 12:52:31 Updating MyThredz.com via email again.
Thu, Dec 18, 2008 10:48:46 Updating MyThredz by replying to an email the system sent
me.
Thu, Dec 18, 2008 00:10:47 launching some new mythredz stuff in a few minutes
Wed, Dec 17, 2008 19:21:32 Nice call from a potential new dNeero customer today.
Mon, Dec 15, 2008 20:04:25 Worked on building panels of endurance bloggers today.
Fri, Dec 12, 2008 23:11:52 Just launched some backend reporting features for dNeero. Went smoothly, although it is too late to still be working.
Tue, Dec 9, 2008 16:03:48 Met with bryan kujawski today.
Mon, Dec 8, 2008 13:55:28 Struggling with the part-time involvement of me and others on a number of projects (and, no, Elswick, this doesn't have anything to do with you.) Just makes it hard to generate and maintain momentum.
Fri, Dec 5, 2008 17:44:25 Just committed revision 1500 to the subversion vcs system.
Fri, Dec 5, 2008 15:42:40 Some MyThredz work today. Some dNeero code. Email responding. Bunch of misc things.
Thu, Dec 4, 2008 23:15:34 Today just blew by. Wow.
Thu, Dec 4, 2008 14:20:26 Sonicwall firewall at the datacenter needs to be replaced because we now have more hardware behind it than the license supports. Always something. Thanks to Carlos for finding the issue and recommending some fixes.
Thu, Dec 4, 2008 14:19:35 Morning was dNeero coding. Got a release out with some new features.
Wed, Dec 3, 2008 12:10:04 Heading downtown for a meeting with Grey in a little bit.
Tue, Dec 2, 2008 20:12:47 Met with Frederic and David from BlinQ Media today.
Mon, Dec 1, 2008 14:42:11 Hectic so far today.
Sat, Nov 29, 2008 22:16:54 Actually ended up getting a good bit done later in the evening.
Sat, Nov 29, 2008 19:32:34 Got some work done today. Not intense work action. But some todos were checked off.
Thu, Nov 27, 2008 10:46:41 If all goes to plan I shall do nothing today. If all goes as it normally does I'll race home from turkey dinner to fix something. I'm not bitter.
Tue, Nov 25, 2008 11:10:40 Today I'm Linux 101'ing myself. Carlos is helping me get stuff done. I've got bits and pieces of what's happening. But I lack the big picture and context. A lot of basic info is missing. So I'm embarking on my own little Linux 101 course today.
Sat, Nov 22, 2008 14:33:51 Spent some time the last few late nights working on PingFit. This morning I wrapped all of it up and launched it. New stuff in the house.
Fri, Nov 21, 2008 18:17:26 Got the servers moved in. Didn't move the entire setup to a different rack. Will do that in a couple weeks.
Fri, Nov 21, 2008 08:12:38 Moving servers around the datacenter today. At least that's the plan. Sites will be down for a little while.
Thu, Nov 20, 2008 17:48:38 Meeting. Conf call. Server installing. That about sums it up today.
Wed, Nov 19, 2008 08:53:13 Carlos is helping me get the two new servers configured. He had me switch from Fedora to CentOs 5.2 64-bit. He's helping me get vnc running as a daemon. I had it working only when i was logged in on the box itself. I used to know some good linux but now i'm very, very rusty.
Mon, Nov 17, 2008 16:57:27 Linux/vnc onto both boxes. Ready to start MySQL installs. Productive day.
Mon, Nov 17, 2008 12:22:47 Now I can either work on getting MySQL onto the first server or I can step back to the other server and get Fedora/vnc onto it. I think I'll bring the second box up to speed.
Mon, Nov 17, 2008 12:21:05 Fedora 9 and vnc running on one of the servers. WoOT!
Sun, Nov 16, 2008 12:24:45 Working on getting linux installed on a new server today. For some reason it won't read the dvd images of Fedora 9 I'm burning. Annoying is part of the plan these days.
Sun, Nov 16, 2008 09:39:35 So far so good this morning on the latest server fix. Fingers crossed.
Sat, Nov 15, 2008 19:13:30 Server issues have consumed me lately. Despite that fact things have been moving forward nicely on a number of fronts.
Tue, Nov 11, 2008 11:38:09 Conf call done. Heading to lunch meeting with Mark Grace.
Tue, Nov 11, 2008 02:45:36 Quarter to three... heading to bed.
Tue, Nov 11, 2008 01:27:02 Deployment done. Will this make my life easier? Prolly not. Mo stuff launched, mo problems.
Tue, Nov 11, 2008 01:12:57 Main data migration done. ClusterF deploy 90% there. Big ugly hate-to-do-it server restart done. dNeero limping on one app server and three databases. A few more minutes to bring everything online again. Never got any of that tv time I was hoping for.
Tue, Nov 11, 2008 00:33:58 Big dNeero deploy and data migration is on. White knuckle time. Way too late in the evening... but that's when the traffic's low. Launching a big optimization in the database structure. And launching big improvements to ClusterF. Trying to simultaneously do both to make rollout time on the order of an hour and a half instead of three. This will likely cause me to mess things up. Waiting on upload of ClusterF package now. Data migration is happening now too.
Mon, Nov 10, 2008 21:38:32 Worked all day. Getting some tv time in right now and then I have a production launch and data migration to fuss over sometime later in the evening when traffic dies down.
Sun, Nov 9, 2008 12:27:24 About 5 hours of work yesterday... would like to get a few in today.
Thu, Nov 6, 2008 19:42:22 Yet another long day working with the servers. Note that I'm finally working with them. For today at least, I wasn't fighting them. Fairly tired now though.
Thu, Nov 6, 2008 12:21:17 Always amazed at how much I can get done in a short period of time when I take the technology/development/server thing out of the equation. In a half hour knocked about eight things off the todo list.
Thu, Nov 6, 2008 12:04:08 Two coffee shop meetings today. Sitting outside at the Starbucks on PTree/7th.
Wed, Nov 5, 2008 18:00:13 Got connection pooling working with Hibernate 3.3. They changed the default behavior and turn-on methodology fairly silently. I found that the production servers were only making a single connection to the db server. Could be the source of some mysterious lock-ups recently. We'll see.
Wed, Nov 5, 2008 17:42:30 Launched a new version of ClusterF and a new dNeero build today.
Wed, Nov 5, 2008 00:39:55 Back to work.
Sat, Nov 1, 2008 05:40:21 No work today... racin'.
Wed, Oct 29, 2008 20:19:32 Rather frustrated that upon arrival in Florida the first thing I have to do is work on the gd servers.
Tue, Oct 28, 2008 22:40:51 Less stressful today. The app is self-repairing and more stable but I'd still like to see the locking threads go away so that it doesn't have to self-repair. Finally out from the crush of emergency server issues I'm able to get back to some phone calls and emails.
Mon, Oct 27, 2008 13:51:22 Gosh... 6:30a to 12:45p flies when you're patching up server problems. Rebuilt portions of the ClusterF infrastructure to ping not just individual instances but the overall site. If the overall site is down for a longer period of time then it'll stop and restart all instances. Ugly hack. But the Tomcat 6 AJP connector won't work with the Executor and without it there's no way to kill idle threads. These idle threads are killing me! And nobody on the Tomcat mailing list has replied to my queries yet. More tape and string onto the ball of string... and tape. I'm exhausted.
Sun, Oct 26, 2008 19:42:01 Another long day but I think I'm making some progress.
Sun, Oct 26, 2008 16:01:09 Still at it, fatiguing like yesterday.
Sun, Oct 26, 2008 13:00:27 A lot of the same today. But less stress.
Sun, Oct 26, 2008 08:52:38 Going to start installing Linux on the new server. Looks like I need to get this thing to the datacenter asap.
Sun, Oct 26, 2008 08:52:06 Back at it again this morning after 4.5 hrs of sleep. Servers locked up last night but after a couple config tweaks this morning they seem to be working. I'm hoping it's just a matter of configuration of what I have.
Sun, Oct 26, 2008 01:48:12 Ok, I stayed up way too late. I'm 18 hours into this fix.
Sat, Oct 25, 2008 23:11:49 Just put out a big fix. Last time I announced how awesome the fix was I got a 16 hr stress day. So tonight I announce that the fix I have just released shall fail, bomb, implode and suck major wind in short order.
Sat, Oct 25, 2008 22:20:11 Dear Wireless Mouse: If you even think about running out of power tonight you shall meet Mr. Drywall. No disrespec'... I'm jus' sayin'.
Sat, Oct 25, 2008 22:08:21 Still at it... 14.5 hrs and counting. Making progress. Numb. Annoyed. Learning a lot. Throat sore from yelling... at myself and the computers.
Sat, Oct 25, 2008 19:19:36 Still battling. Now truly exhausted and can't wait to get some of this fixed.
Sat, Oct 25, 2008 17:35:20 My Saturday nightmare continues. At this point I'm 12 hours into it and getting rather tired.
Sat, Oct 25, 2008 15:05:13 Have been working in a high stress mode for over nine hours now. Not a happy camper.
Sat, Oct 25, 2008 09:57:10 As always, after a big launch, a big miserable day of server issues. Have I mentioned how much I hate computers?
Fri, Oct 24, 2008 18:54:02 Phew, finally launched something to help with database load.
Fri, Oct 24, 2008 15:02:31 Yeah, I think this approach will work. Takes load from certain tables off onto separate machines. Not the perfect end-game scaling but will dramatically increase capability for the short term.
Fri, Oct 24, 2008 11:50:40 About to claw my freaking eyes out. HA-JDBC has become a dead end again. Now considering putting different tables onto different databases by creating multiple Hibernate SessionFactories. Seems to work in very, very prelim testing and the concept would certainly have some legs. But, the devil's in the details, as always. Still, I'm at the optimistic portion of the show today.
Fri, Oct 24, 2008 10:17:31 Sr's buying more servers from Carlos. Got three so far. Another two on the way.
Thu, Oct 23, 2008 20:18:34 Lots of progress (a familiar but ultimately futile theme) with HA-JDBC today. Maybe this one'll be the one. Probably not.
Wed, Oct 22, 2008 20:15:12 Mid-day had some good progress on the Apache config issues. Looking at the cpus it was clear that the issue wasn't raw load. Something else was locking up. Essentially the connections between Apache and Tomcat (via AJP) were gumming up after any spikes in traffic. With that out of the way I went back to the database clustering stuff. It's truly driving me insane. Scaling isn't a big enough problem to have high quality open source options. There are a ton of them. And some look pretty good. But they're all immature. I keep getting three days into the learning curve to find that their stuff is just not very robust. I'm sure it'll work... Sequoia, for example. But heaven forbid something goes wrong. Then you spend hours with cryptic error messages trying to figure out what went wrong. It's not a learning curve knowledge problem. It's a product robustness problem. Which is frustrating. I'm at something of a loss tonight. I may go back to HA-JDBC because I've got about a week of learning and wireframe development done for it. It's not enough to just get one of these things working. It has to work with the deployment methodology and vision I have for dNeero. Or allow me to change that vision smartly. Lots of frustration right now.
Tue, Oct 21, 2008 22:35:49 Didn't get any database clustering work done today. Am worried I'll miss a self-imposed deadline of having clustering working before the race. But I did work on load/scaling issues. The config of the AJP connector between the webserver and the app servers has become a bottleneck. Not so much due to volume. More due to connections that go stale but stay open forever. So I'm playing with config on both sides of the equation, trying to prevent the lockups I've seen lately.
Tue, Oct 21, 2008 18:20:50 Through my dNeero work alone I've got production examples of eight of the top ten most desirable web development skills. So I've got that goin' for me. Gunga ga lunga.
Tue, Oct 21, 2008 11:14:05 More emergency production fixin' today. I think Apache HTTP is holding mod_jk connections open long after Tomcat thinks they're dead. Eventually the pool of connections is full but all are dead. So I added some timeout directives to the workers.properties file and will see what happens.
Mon, Oct 20, 2008 19:12:31 Couple 'o' conference calls, some database clustering work and some production emergency fixin' today.
Sun, Oct 19, 2008 22:49:38 Some work tonight.
Sat, Oct 18, 2008 11:38:14 Boom! Got dNeero running on a clustered database. Kickass. Far cry from production-ready but a huge step forward this morning. The Sequoia middleware project version 3 beta 2 is what I'm working on. Had to go with the beta for alter table support. Update: Well, maybe not clustered. Connected to two databases but inserts aren't distributing across them. Something to fix.
Fri, Oct 17, 2008 16:12:40 Busy day. Morning was another breakthrough on the database clustering (finally.) It's not working but I finally have the cluster up and the app servers talking to them. There are errors and the cluster being a whiny little bitch about alter statements but I'll work through that. And our third dNeero client launches a campaign today. Lots of back and forth. And a number of misc emails/calls/schedulings too. Looks like when it rains in Atlanta it pours in business.
Wed, Oct 15, 2008 12:25:27 Good progress on the db clustering this morning. Lots of frustration though. Should it really be this hard?
Mon, Oct 13, 2008 14:01:41 Mo technology, mo problems.
Mon, Oct 13, 2008 09:23:21 Got a lot done last night. Almost entire Sequoia setup configured. Tested it, found a few hurdles. Will work on them today.
Sun, Oct 12, 2008 21:53:16 Since I had caffeine today for my workout I decided to have some more tonight. A rarity, this caffeine in the evening. But my stress levels are high on this database clustering thing and I just won't sleep well until I make some progress. So despite three hours of sleep last night I'm wide awake and planning a late night work session. I'm moving on from my fourth (or fifth) technology that I've used to try to scale the database. Now I'm trying Sequoia which I tried a few years ago but didn't invest the time to rtfm. Last night and tonight I read the ~60 page manual and have combed over about ten config files individually making them fit my needs. I haven't started the controller yet and assume that it won't work out of the gates. Luckily I'm using VMWare heavily so I can freeze a copy of the OS at various hurdle points and revert if necessary. That's kind of nice. So off on work I go. To reduce stress.
Sat, Oct 11, 2008 10:11:35 Watching Ironman Hawaii live coverage and working on the database clustering issues. Moved the ball down the field last night at 2am. Odd how that works. It's a network routing issue between VMWare virtual machines. Got some leads on this latest hurdle.
Sat, Oct 11, 2008 01:50:35 A little late night database clustering work happening right now.
Thu, Oct 9, 2008 20:04:17 Database clustering stuck on a technical hurdle. Got the ndb_mgmd running but the ndbd (data node) can't seem to find it despite each VMWare Linux instance being able to ping each other freely. Odd. Annoying. Little/no debug/error info to work with. And feeling the heat to get it going because a big client is knocking.
Thu, Oct 9, 2008 20:03:06 Afternoon meeting today from 2-4.
Mon, Oct 6, 2008 19:57:44 Falling somewhat behind with a number of work things.
Mon, Oct 6, 2008 19:53:09 Today was a lot of VMWare setup stuff. Moved to VMWare Server from VMWare Player. Getting used to the interface and features. Learned all about virtual machine networking setup... chose bridged setup. And now digging into Linux's networking config. Next step is to get MySQL Cluster booted and running with a test database. From there I'll have to get the dNeero app working with it. Somewhat involved process but hopefully much of the work will transition to production... I mean, that is the purpose of virtualization after all.
Sun, Oct 5, 2008 00:08:08 Database clustering via balancing driver, third attempt, is *fail*. So on to using MySQL Cluster. I'm running four instances of Linux Fedora 9 on VMware virtual machines and slowly going through the process of getting each instance running. From there it's a long road to convert the existing data, make sure the app will work with the NDB storage engine and test out backup, recovery and standard maintenance processes. But it's a more robust solution. Got about five hours of work on it done today.
Thu, Oct 2, 2008 19:34:39 dNeero meeting tomorrow at 9:30 with Olive Studio.
Thu, Oct 2, 2008 19:34:26 May have our second dNeero client ready to roll. Early on. We'll see.
Thu, Oct 2, 2008 19:22:15 Ten DVDs dropped off at the vault.
Thu, Oct 2, 2008 13:53:30 Eight DVDs burned so far. One or two more to go.
Thu, Oct 2, 2008 10:09:57 Doing a bunch of physical backups to take to the safe today. Tedious but important. Yes, I've chosen tedious over the frustrating... the database clustering is killing me.
Wed, Oct 1, 2008 11:42:55 Database clustering officially driving me nuts.
Wed, Oct 1, 2008 09:08:41 Today's meeting is a late afternoon one.
Tue, Sep 30, 2008 19:27:56 Coffee with Dave and Sr. today in midtown. Enjoying the meetings. We seem to discuss things well these days. Lots of leads we're tracking. Waiting for one or two of the big fish to jump... or bite... or whatever big fish are supposed to do.
Mon, Sep 29, 2008 20:32:03 Still muscling the database clustering issue. Making progress. Set up a couple meetings today. In fact, my Mon, Tue, Wed and Fri have meetings scheduled. Meetings are good. But they don't pay the bills... gotta convert to business!
Mon, Sep 29, 2008 11:26:44 dNeero coffee meeting with a friend at Alcove in Tucker.
Sat, Sep 27, 2008 11:29:13 Working again on database clustering. Issue is with the app-layer jdbc driver. This morning something of a small breakthrough in that the driver now works. Lots of testing and deployment planning may be in the works. If the thing doesn't explode like it usually does. Remember the yearlong clustering woes of 2007? Those were frontend app servers. Now I'm working on a similar goal for the backend database servers. Different technical challenges. Same long-running multi-week failures. Joy. That's sarcasm.
Fri, Sep 26, 2008 10:37:17 Meetings with eight women and two guys are getting closer to the optimal ratio.
Thu, Sep 25, 2008 07:55:48 9am meeting today.
Wed, Sep 24, 2008 18:40:57 Workwise today was some email, some database scaling testing, an afternoon conference call and some other misc stuff.
Tue, Sep 23, 2008 09:18:58 dNeero meeting with Dean Trevelino today.
Fri, Sep 19, 2008 16:14:12 Met with Frederic Bien who I found very interesting. He's got a mathematics background but has been an entrepreneur since just about the time we started frogfire. He sent his first email in 1985. Very nice guy. We'll get together to talk about BlinqMedia and dNeero at some point in the near future.
Wed, Sep 17, 2008 17:57:43 Good dNeero meeting action these last two days.
Mon, Sep 15, 2008 22:01:20 Heading up to NYC tomorrow for five or six dNeero meetings.
Fri, Sep 12, 2008 18:25:38 Kinda burned out right now despite not having done much lately. Just a lot of traveling and other stuff eating time away.
Thu, Sep 11, 2008 15:50:18 dNeero meeting earlier today.
Tue, Sep 9, 2008 23:38:09 I'm definitely Plan B'ing it with dNeero right now. Love the summary of Plan A... exactly why... well, let's just say, exactly why and leave it at that.
Mon, Sep 8, 2008 09:06:30 Was up good portion of last night working on an annoying server issue. It was annoying. Which made me annoyed.
Fri, Sep 5, 2008 09:07:51 Just behind in work now. Way behind.
Wed, Aug 27, 2008 11:38:05 Great work thinking on the run this morning. Came home and spent a good hour capturing the thoughts.
Tue, Aug 26, 2008 13:36:16 Knocked the Inbox from 65+ to 29. Many apologies... I know many of you are still waiting on emails.
Tue, Aug 26, 2008 13:21:14 Skipped downtown and just did some calls. And then did some sales cold calling. And now am doing emails/customer support/debugging.
Tue, Aug 26, 2008 09:14:38 Heading downtown for a dNeero meeting.
Fri, Aug 22, 2008 21:06:14 Work output today was low and choppy.
Thu, Aug 21, 2008 20:05:29 Reger.com junk/splog account purge has been running all day. Thousands of sql transactions per minute. Lots of stuff to delete... entries, login histories, trackbacks, locations, comments, log names, traffic numbers, etc, etc. It's already crashed one MySql table but I was able to recover it quickly. Good cleanup, but only partial and the full clean will take about 60 days. Also shut down signup because 99.9% are splog accounts these days. I'm honored that they want to put so much junk into my little blogging platform.
Thu, Aug 21, 2008 09:18:47 Doing some reger.com fake account cleaning. Fairly aggressive this time. Please let me know if your account has been shut down in error.
Wed, Aug 20, 2008 05:24:37 dNeero meeting today.
Tue, Aug 19, 2008 22:29:41 More than anything, working on setting up meetings for a dNeero trip to NYC, the big apple, in a couple weeks.
Mon, Aug 18, 2008 15:11:05 Talked to Tom Ajello of Poke New York. Worked with Tom at frogfire, like, 14 years ago. He's up in NYC and hopefully we can get together.
Fri, Aug 15, 2008 13:46:48 Downtown for a 2pm dNeero meeting.
Thu, Aug 14, 2008 16:04:24 Or not. Calendaring mixup by some jackass named Joe Sr.
Thu, Aug 14, 2008 15:43:14 dNeero meeting this afternoon with a guy from the company that runs Slashdot. WoOT!
Tue, Aug 12, 2008 10:37:48 dNeero conversation paying $3 launched... already seeing respondents... and this convo requires reg at a third party site, etc. Will be watching progress today.
Tue, Aug 12, 2008 09:24:50 Launching a dNeero conversation for a client today!
Mon, Aug 11, 2008 08:52:50 Fewer meetings this week. Time to get some deliverables checked off the list.
Mon, Aug 11, 2008 00:32:54 Sometimes just thinking solves problems. I had planned on a day devoted to what I thought was a bug. Turns out it's working as designed. The design may need to be changed but that's a much more predictable ball of wax.
Sat, Aug 9, 2008 18:46:51 Got some basic work done as I can't work tomorrow as planned.
Sat, Aug 9, 2008 11:19:33 Since I'm not riding today, I guess I'll work.
Fri, Aug 8, 2008 16:10:32 First meeting done. Enjoyed talking to some guys who understand the space we're in. One meeting left.
Fri, Aug 8, 2008 09:02:13 dNeero Facebook app needs some work because of the new profile they launched.
Fri, Aug 8, 2008 09:01:54 One meeting yesterday. Two today.
Wed, Aug 6, 2008 11:08:16 Somewhat light work day. Some email and some misc stuff but generally recovering and slowing down a bit after the heroic code push of last week and this weekend.
Wed, Aug 6, 2008 05:06:41 Meeting was with great people who've had their budgets cut back... something we're finding a lot of. Luckily we have ways to help on smaller budgets and the people we met with are very willing to listen and keep moving forward. For this we're excited and can't wait to move things to the next level.
Tue, Aug 5, 2008 14:10:55 Downtown now, meeting at 3pm.
Mon, Aug 4, 2008 12:28:53 Oh, we had a 'splosion. Nice one.
Mon, Aug 4, 2008 12:08:50 New stuff launched. Now I wait for the servers to explode... because they always do after new code.
Mon, Aug 4, 2008 11:47:44 Deploying some dNeero code. Site down for a few minutes.
Mon, Aug 4, 2008 10:20:06 How to Hire an Idiot. Painfully, been there too and was nodding the whole time. Luckily, that episode's in the past now. On to bigger and stupider mistakes, I am. Lol.
Sun, Aug 3, 2008 23:03:51 Good golly, 11pm and still working. This is the end. I've got to sleep because my week starts at 5am tomorrow.
Sun, Aug 3, 2008 22:09:05 10pm, still working. Have jumped into some of the use case testing for tomorrow.
Sun, Aug 3, 2008 21:02:10 Still working. Long day. Getting rather tired. But I've gotten a lot done. Tomorrow'll be mostly about testing and then, fingers crossed, a late night deployment. Which means Tuesday will be filled with issues, complaints and bug fixes.
Sun, Aug 3, 2008 13:49:03 Been working all day since the wee morning hours.
Fri, Aug 1, 2008 20:31:14 Later afternoon surge of productivity got a bunch of good stuff done. Still, on the week I'm behind where I wanted to be.
Fri, Aug 1, 2008 16:19:29 Interruptions article does a great job of describing my focus issues with so many things happening and so many ways to be in touch with the people involved. Excerpt: "it takes an average of 23 minutes and 15 seconds to get back to the task."
Thu, Jul 31, 2008 13:44:30 Meeting at LuckyFish today. Great shop. Beautiful offices. And wonderful work. We presented dNeero.
Mon, Jul 28, 2008 16:28:01 Lots of dNeero bizdev stuff today. And conversation crafting for the company that looks like it'll be a paying customer. The big thing I'm struggling with is a huge feature that I need to get out the door in the next week or so. This new feature touches every single element of the financial infrastructure and if not crafted carefully will introduce chaos into my life.
Sat, Jul 26, 2008 09:18:12 Over at Andy's house. Elswick's on his way over. Working on PingFit today.
Fri, Jul 25, 2008 19:19:48 Not my most productive work day today. Lots of odds and ends. Wasn't ever able to bite off a big chunk. But I'm still at it, installing Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection.
Fri, Jul 25, 2008 10:21:14 Working on putting together a dNeero whitepaper. Started in MS Word because I wanted something quick but layout control is just so miserable that I'm moving to something else... likely Adobe InDesign.
Mon, Jul 21, 2008 22:54:12 Five dNeero meetings over the next three days. Busy, busy, busy.
Sun, Jul 20, 2008 19:59:31 Sitting in the car while Terp showed the house I wrote up some concepts for a proposal.
Sun, Jul 20, 2008 04:50:59 Arghhhh... just spent the last hour fixing the servers. They started pinging me about an hour before I was planning on getting up. Which really annoys me.
Sat, Jul 19, 2008 17:30:39 Doing some emailin' today.
Thu, Jul 17, 2008 11:09:30 Downtown to have some coffee with Christian Griffith of phatz.com
Wed, Jul 16, 2008 20:25:40 8:20pm and I'm still working. What's wrong with me? I need to watch some Tour de France!
Wed, Jul 16, 2008 12:28:55 Drafted up this month's Talentzoo article.
Tue, Jul 15, 2008 10:41:23 Two dNeero meetings today. Ketchum. Momentum.
Mon, Jul 14, 2008 09:33:08 Monday at 9:25 am and I'm already behind?!? I thought working over the weekend was supposed to prevent this.
Fri, Jul 11, 2008 11:52:58 Just launched the Turbo Reviewer, a feature for dNeero researchers that'll save a bunch of time.
Thu, Jul 10, 2008 08:11:54 Heading downtown to talk dNeero stuff.
Wed, Jul 9, 2008 16:03:17 Choppy work day. Early morning work. Then my run. Then some work. Then a trip to All3Sports (but a few calls in the minivan). And now more work.
Tue, Jul 8, 2008 10:35:29 Just launched answer editing and dPolice for dNeero.
Sun, Jul 6, 2008 21:28:18 dNeero code day today.
Sun, Jul 6, 2008 02:00:08 PingFit photo shoot today. Thanks to Keith and Danielle.
Fri, Jul 4, 2008 07:27:31 Very creative in the mornings. Got up at 5 again today and have spent the last couple hours working.
Thu, Jul 3, 2008 20:43:37 Choppy day of coding and emailing. Started early in the am. Was excited. Worked out. Was excited for work after the ride but quickly lost steam as things got complex. In last couple hours I've rallied and gotten a bunch of stuff cleaned up. Wasn't a loss of a day.
Tue, Jul 1, 2008 17:11:46 Meetings is tiring Batman.
Tue, Jul 1, 2008 07:46:52 Got a full day today. Three meetings/conf calls. Prepping one presentation right now.
Fri, Jun 27, 2008 21:02:00 I've been able to configure and run a database driver that effectively distributes reads across MySQL slaves (not my terminology) while inserts/updates/deletes are processed on the master (again, not my terminology.) Lbpool is the starting point but I'm customizing some config params to make it dovetail with the current system a bit.
Fri, Jun 27, 2008 16:52:07 Working on email and database replication/load balancing today.
Thu, Jun 26, 2008 21:01:42 Had a good meeting with Eric, Jessica, Carol and Claudia. Thanks for the time!
Thu, Jun 26, 2008 08:09:59 Just adding some screenshots of the dNeero Facebook App to a presentation for Ted's Montana Grill today at 10am.
Wed, Jun 25, 2008 22:02:42 Headache pushed my work late into the evening and now I'm behind and frustrated. Have to get to sleep because I'm getting up early tomorrow. Need to get stuff done.
Wed, Jun 25, 2008 18:51:09 Working on outbound email and MySql replication today.
Tue, Jun 24, 2008 20:58:50 Dave had a good dNeero meeting today. Can't wait to hear more about it.
Tue, Jun 24, 2008 15:08:24 IM with Andy and Elswick re: secret project.
Tue, Jun 24, 2008 14:46:22 Just working through emails and detail stuff today.
Mon, Jun 23, 2008 14:13:24 Launched initial private label capability to dNeero.
Sun, Jun 22, 2008 18:31:39 Doing some load simulations of dNeero on a test server. Using JMeter. The new private label infrastructure builds pages using the Velocity template engine which adds a new layer of stuff each time a page is loaded. I want to make sure this extra layer doesn't have any obvious memory leaks or performance bottlenecks. So far I'm throwing 1000 concurrent users at a single instance of dNeero running on an old laptop (app and database on same cpu) and the throughput is fine. In fact, when things are bombing it's the home office 1Gb ethernet hub that's locking up, not the app itself.
Sun, Jun 22, 2008 17:31:23 A pretty productive day... second weekend work day in a row.
Sun, Jun 22, 2008 10:56:38 Have gotten a couple hours of private label work done this morning.
Sun, Jun 22, 2008 07:52:13 Doing some regular backup maintenance this morning.
Sat, Jun 21, 2008 20:50:00 A productive weekend work day.
Sat, Jun 21, 2008 09:24:34 Gotten about three hours of work done already. Still working on the private labeling of dNeero.
Fri, Jun 20, 2008 21:32:16 Productive day? Volume of work was low but the quality was pretty high... overcame a technical challenge that was holding me up. Better than sleeping all day I suppose.
Fri, Jun 20, 2008 15:06:49 Working with the Apache Velocity template engine. When you use a new Java library there are often little things that don't make sense. So you subscribe to and then post to the email mailing list with your questions. I did so yesterday morning and today I got a response. It's always something trivial and obvious in hindsight. But that's the nature of climbing up the learning curve.
Wed, Jun 18, 2008 14:02:02 Back from the dNeero meeting. Great meeting overall but without the exact desired outcome. We're getting a ton better at presenting the concept and proving the value and results of using it via real-world examples. But the client of the firm we were talking to has had budget changes. It happens. We'll keep digging!
Tue, Jun 17, 2008 14:27:23 Ok, back to working on the stuff that I was supposed to be working on yesterday. Sidetracks common, as you can see.
Tue, Jun 17, 2008 11:08:53 Dropped the ball and didn't get something together for a potential client. Damn. Put something together this morning but I think he's in a meeting with his client already in NYC. Damn.
Tue, Jun 17, 2008 10:11:18 Moving on to the stuff I had planned to work on yesterday.
Tue, Jun 17, 2008 08:26:15 Second fix appears to have worked.
Tue, Jun 17, 2008 08:13:35 Of course the fix didn't work.
Tue, Jun 17, 2008 08:11:30 Launching a fix but the schedule damage is already done. I've spent the most creative hours of the day already (they happen early). Something of a bummer because I've got a meeting tomorrow so my plan'll have to wait until Thursday.
Tue, Jun 17, 2008 08:09:01 My plan for the day thrown off by yet another issue report. It never ends.
Tue, Jun 17, 2008 08:08:13 The triumph of fixing an issue or adding a feature is always short-lived. Somebody always points out something else that needs work. The immediate note that there's more to do is crushing to the spirit. Repeated many times one learns to never allow the feeling of joy. Living like that for years, a person finds that work is miserable. The only option is to celebrate the improvements even more brilliantly and not sweat the constant stream of criticisms. I'm only about halfway through this journey.
Mon, Jun 16, 2008 13:25:42 Think I've got a fix for the primary dNeero issue people are reporting. Have created fix in code and tested locally on data similar to production. Am now uploading build for deployment.
Mon, Jun 16, 2008 12:31:38 Just got a dNeero call from a great guy I've worked with in the past. I'm hoping we can share some good social media info with his team next week.
Mon, Jun 16, 2008 08:34:09 Working this morning on dNeero bugs/issues reported by users.
Sun, Jun 15, 2008 21:15:51 Just a little planning on the work front today. Before I jump into any big projects I like to get perspective with a bunch of sketches and thinking. Private labeling dneero was the topic for today. Tons of loose ends to worry about. Not a small task by any means even though the basic requirement of skinning the site can be accomplished in about ten minutes.
Sat, Jun 14, 2008 11:06:36 Each Thred from myThredz now has its own RSS feed for automated consumptive joy.
Sat, Jun 14, 2008 09:23:32 First couple signups at myThredz.com. Thanks peeps!
Sat, Jun 14, 2008 06:19:51 Servers are operable this morning. Looks like normal load. I run certain tasks overnight. These are tasks that I want to collect and process in a more efficient manner. In doing this I give users better front-end performance and reduce the total amount of work required to make the system run. For example, instead of recording page hit numbers every time a page gets called I'll collate them in memory and make many fewer database calls by recording only every so often. Same with complex financial calculations. But, as the number of users increases the amount of back-end work goes up and there are times overnight when the database is getting hit so hard that it does affect front-end performance. Always a balance. And it's nice to watch it in realtime... which is what I'm doing this morning.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 15:17:40 Good meeting with Dean Trevelino.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 11:44:26 Got a meeting downtown at 2pm today.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 11:43:47 Went a little social today... just had to beat the Inbox down a bit. It was up to 45 messages flagged for response. I know I need to respond sooner. I feel overwhelmed when the servers are malfunctioning.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 06:50:03 Ok, I've got what I think is a fix (yes, I know we've heard this before.) On Apache I need to set the Win32DisableAcceptEx directive so that Apache doesn't use a certain type of socket connection.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 06:25:27 Some good news... finding this new error a lot on Google. Misery loves company.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 06:24:10 Getting rid of one issue illuminates another: "The specified network name is no longer available. : winnt_accept: Asynchronous AcceptEx failed."
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 06:22:16 Like before I seem to have done something that stops the issue. Only time will tell if this is an actual fix. It may... may... be that Apache's error file was too large. But that doesn't explain why it got large in the first place.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 05:49:54 Rarring (compressing) a 14Gb error file to download it and see what's in there.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 05:47:24 Up at 5:30am. More tracking. I think the issue may have to do with the Apache load balancer... only my 50th possible culprit. But that's how these things go. I know there's a solution. I feel frustrated and helpless.
Fri, Jun 13, 2008 03:02:13 Awake at 3am. Trying to track down one of the overnight issues with the servers.
Thu, Jun 12, 2008 22:30:24 So far myThredz is doing a great job of helping me capture what I'm doing. But I want to elevate my game and capture what I'm thinking (logical self) and what I'm feeling (emotional self) a lot better. I often feel like 90% of my blogging stuff is just a third grade show and tell. "Today I went to the zoo,"
Thu, Jun 12, 2008 22:28:39 Apparently this is my week for everything to break. Frustration mounting. External USB drive at home busted tonight. Server woes. Outlook on the lappy.
Thu, Jun 12, 2008 10:26:34 My first post from the new myThredz in-widget posting mechanism. Pretty cool.
Thu, Jun 12, 2008 08:03:34 Just saw another one... so while incidence is greatly reduced... it's not fixed.
Thu, Jun 12, 2008 07:54:57 Continuing the them It's Always My Fault... in the past 30 mins haven't seen the phantom networking error. I restarted my ClusterF app on each server in the cluster. It may have been the packet-flooding culprit. Will wait a little longer to see if it continues to work.
Thu, Jun 12, 2008 07:06:23 Server locked up again last night. Something with the networking. Every few minutes a packet won't cross the back-end network. Sr restarted the switch yesterday. No idea what could be causing this.
Wed, Jun 11, 2008 16:45:14 Got an update to the embed thingy that myThredz.com outputs. Less ugly borders and scroll bars until you roll over a thred and then it expands and you get bars. Also added edit post capability.
Wed, Jun 11, 2008 15:11:30 Still haven't done my article for the month.
Wed, Jun 11, 2008 15:06:25 Oh, dang. Thought that reducing Apache HTTPd's available threads would clear things up. So close... worked for eight minutes. That's somethin'.
Wed, Jun 11, 2008 14:37:44 Thanks to Sr for the trip. Wasn't the issue I thought. Yay, more debugging. Yes, sarcasm.
Wed, Jun 11, 2008 13:23:23 Sr's at the datacenter disconnecting wires.
Wed, Jun 11, 2008 07:40:35 I think it's either a network card, a router or a cat5 cable that's gone bad. Still seeing network connect probs on the non-public side of the network.
Tue, Jun 10, 2008 11:56:48 Some server/networking issues... possibly firewall... possibly a rogue server flooding packets onto the network... possibly something else.
Tue, Jun 10, 2008 10:13:50 Working on dNeero proposal this morning.
Mon, Jun 9, 2008 17:06:48 Just got some good budgeting news from a potential dNeero customer. We're meeting next week to discuss campaign ideas, etc. Could be a big win for us. Very exciting.
Mon, Jun 9, 2008 12:28:55 Just launched a new dNeero build.
Mon, Jun 9, 2008 11:48:24 Working on a memory usage issue. I believe that JBossCache isn't respecting its own TTL directives... it's leaving some objects in the cache forever.
Mon, Jun 9, 2008 09:33:09 Late getting my article in this month. How exactly did I sign myself up for a repeating editorial deadline?
Mon, Jun 9, 2008 08:42:01 Alright, switching gears to dNeero today. Got a slide/graphic to work on for a meeting on Wednesday. Got a performance issue to look at.
Sun, Jun 8, 2008 14:51:05 Added some content to the myThredz homepage.
Sun, Jun 8, 2008 10:56:52 Redesign of mythredz.com... quick but effective. Also, thread integrated into logo... I know, creative.
Sun, Jun 8, 2008 00:21:09 One thing to note is that I'm not using myThredz as I thought I would. Initially I planned on doing one post per thred per day... kind of a daily summary/wrapup. But clearly I'm posting a lot more than that. We'll see where it settles once the newness wears off.
Sun, Jun 8, 2008 00:14:17 So far enjoying the myThredz app. Used it all day on the road from the cell phone. I like the compartmentalization and threading. It takes over a limited screen real estate so I feel no fear adding tons of minute details. Microblogging, which has the tendency to junkify a blog today, adds a lot of value later on... you get the texture of your life from the tiny details. So I want to capture it. But I don't want to abuse people with too many details. myThredz is designed to balance the two. So far, so good.
Sat, Jun 7, 2008 01:36:38 Just launched some bug fixes for myThredz. Of course I already see more stuff that needs to be fixed. An extra scroll bar in IE on the embed, for example... it looks better in Firefox.
Sat, Jun 7, 2008 00:50:32 Just found a few bugs in the initial myThredz.com launch... as expected.
Sat, Jun 7, 2008 00:44:19 Just launched a new experiment, myThredz.com.
